BiographyHistory

At the age of 13, Joan began to experience supernatural visions with accompanying prophecies. Having convinced the Dauphin (later to become Charles VII) of her sincerity and orthodoxy, Joan successfully led a number of French military campaigns against the British. She failed, however, in her attempt to capture Paris and was later charged with heresy and witchcraft. Joan was burnt at the stake at Rouen.
