BiographyHistory

Spike Milligan was a renowned British comedian. He is fondly remembered, in particular, for the role of 'Eccles' in the Goon Show. Milligan's working career, mostly in the UK, included time spent as a writer, musician, poet, playwright, actor and soldier.

Milligan's parents and brother Desmond migrated to Australia following his parents' retirement. As a consequence, Milligan made regular trips to Australia and was involved with several radio and television programmes during these visits. Milligan's nonsense verse was regularly used on the ABC's Play School programme.

Milligan is the brother of Desmond Patrick Bryan Milligan (q.v.).
