BiographyHistory

Sir Redmond Barry was regarded as the founder of the State Library of Victoria. In 1852 he was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria.

He persists in Australian literature as the man who sentenced Ellen Kelly to three years' hard labour in 1878 and Ned Kelly to death in 1880.
