Known as 'Fighting Mac', William McKenzie was a Salvation Army chaplain serving at the front during World War 1. McKenzie served as chaplain to the 1st Infantry Brigade and went ashore with the troops at Gallipoli. In one three-day period he conducted 647 funeral services. The Australian government awarded McKenzie the Military Cross for gallantry.
