BiographyHistory

The descendants of Robert Charles Alexander Lindsay (1843-1915) and his wife Jane Elizabeth, nee Williams (1848-1932), have 'written a remarkable chapter in the artistic history of Australia - unsurpassed in any family story - and have given to Creswick [on the Victorian goldfields] a share of immortality'. The quotation is taken from RG Menzies' Foreword to The Leafy Tree: My Family I (1965), by Robert Lindsay's youngest son, Daryl. This work included a family tree, with the motto, Endure Fort. With other autobiographical and biographical works by the family, it provides a comprehensive viewpoint of the Lindsays.
