BiographyHistory

A hermit, bushman and farmer, Ernie Metcalf grazed cattle on Diamond Head in Crowdy Bay National Park, New South Wales. During World war II Metcalf met the writer Kylie Tennant. He built a hut for Tennant to use for her writing. Tennant's work, The Man on the Headland (1971) is about Ernie Metcalf.
