BiographyHistory

Born in New Zealand, Colin Lanceley came to Australia the year after his birth. He attended Naremburn High School (Sydney) before studying art at East Sydney Technical School. He graduated with an Art Diploma in 1960.

Considered a major contemporary Australian artist, Lanceley developed a trademark use of mixed media with his 'painterly-sculptural assemblages' which incorporated 'found' objects. Lanceley's work has also been noted for its exploration of the Australian landscape.
