BiographyHistory

Amalie Dietrich came to Australia as a scientific collector on a ten-year contract offered by the Pacific trader G. J. Godeffroy. Dietrich arrived in Brisane on the La Rochelle and remained in Queensland for eight years. In March 1871 she travelled to Sydney and Melbourne and then, in 1873, travelled back to Hamburg where she continued her career in Godeffroy's museum.
