The Duyfken was a small Dutch ship that sailed in 1606 from Indonesia to the northern coast of the continent that would later be called Australia. In 1993, historian Michael Young assembled a small group of people who were interested in building a replica of the original Dufken. That group became the Duyfken 1606 Replica Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation concerned with the care and promotion of the Dufken replica, which set sail for the first time in July 1999.
