BiographyHistory

Art critic Sebastian Smee has worked for a range of Australian and international newspapers including the Australian and the Boston Globe.

In 2016, he published The Art of Rivalry: Four Friendships, Betrayals, and Breakthroughs in Modern Art, covering the working relationships of Matisse and Picasso, Manet and Degas, Bacon and Freud, and De Kooning and Pollock; it was shortlisted for a 2016 Walkley Award, the 2017 Nib Award, and the Prime Minister's Award for Non-fiction.
