BiographyHistory

Born in Iraqi Kurdistan. His family was forced by the Iraqi military regime to leave their village, and they moved to Erbil city. He studied and completed an Arts degree in English literature and translation at the University of Al-Mustansyria.

Farik Suleyman has written and translated stories, poetry and literary criticism for Kurdish newspapers and magazines. After the Gulf War he worked closely with western journalists to focus attention on the Kurdish tragedy. He came to Australia with his daughter as a refugee and works as a Kurdish and Arabic translator and interpreter. (Source: Waiting in Space)
