BiographyHistory

Wendy Gould's childhood was spent in Reigate, twenty miles south of London. During the war years she received much of her primary school education in air raid shelters. She left school at fifteen and a half and was employed in many different jobs until she retired at the age of 60. She migrated to SA in 1956

A "late starter", as she describes herself, in the field of entertainment, she writes and performs mainly comic verse, and is a firm believer that "laughter is the best medicine". From a nervous beginning, after doing a "Pam Ayres" style act at a Riverland golf club in about 1990, she now enjoys presenting her work for groups and organizations in Adelaide and surrounding areas, and with encouragement from her husband, children and grandchildren, has published four books.
