Corrie Hosking grew up in the Adelaide Hills. In 1996 she was awarded the Colin Thiele Scholarship for Literature and in 1997 she was selected as the Australian representative for Interplay, The International Young Playwright's Festival. Her success continued in 1999 when she was awarded a grant by the Queen's Trust for Young Australians for overseas travel as well as a SAYAB Project Grant. She was the inaugural winner of the Adelaide Festival Award for an Unpublished Manuscript in 2002, her book being published and launched in 2004. At the time of the launch she was completing a PhD in Creative Writing at Adelaide University and studying for a Bachelor of Social Work Degree. In 2005 she was one of those selected as the Sydney Morning Herald's Best Young Novelists.
