The Observer identifies 'Iota' as 'a lady who was formerly well-known here as taking a deep interest in religious matters and the welfare of the aborigines, and who left the colony some two or three years ago for England' (24 Jun, 1871, p 15). The Areas Express of 7 Oct 1882 includes a story which 'comes from a place where Mrs Meredith found food for her work entitled "Cooroona"' (p 2).
This author is not to be confused with Irish-Australian author Kathleen Caffyn, who also used the pseudonym 'Iota' from the late nineteenth-century.
