BiographyHistory

Margo had a Catholic convent education at Sacre Coeur, Glen Iris, Vic, and matriculated in 1958. She pursued a secretarial course on advice from "elders" in her family. She worked in this capacity with BHP for a few years before working at the University of Melbourne as secretary for the Professor of French while at the same time studying (languages, philosophy, American history). She married a Frenchman and they had two children. Prior to their divorce in 1978 Margo and her husband were co-owners of restaurants.

Margo moved to SA in 1975. She had started writing poetry in her teens but stopped for a while because of children and pressures of work. She became involved with workshops, publishing poetry in the workshop anthologies until eventually her own book was published. She was a foundation member of Writers' Workshops Inc 1982-86. She did a Writing for the Media course at the Adelaide TAFE, sold her heavily mortgaged house, and moved to Nairne in the Adelaide Hills in 1987 working as a Massage, Reiki, and Bach Flower Remedy therapist.

Margo has had short stories read on Radio 5UV, and poetry read on ABC Radio's "Poet's Tongue". She was awarded 1st prize in the Adult section of poetry at the Victor Harbor Folk Festival, 1997. In 1998 she was working on the production of a CD anthology of poetry, and was collaborating with a homeopathic colleague on a book as well as studying for an Advanced Diploma of Professional Writing. She won 1st Prize in the Adult section of poetry at the Victor Harbor Folk Festival 1997 for her poem "Joanne of the Braids".
