BiographyHistory

A speaker of English, Hebrew and Hungarian, Ivan Singer emigrated to Australia in 1946 but returned to Hungary the following year and emigrated to Israel in 1949. Twenty years later he returned to Australia and settled in Sydney. His story A Newcomer in the Bush won second prize in the Land short story competition (1987). Singer has published several of his own novels and has been the editor of KULTURA, a Hungarian monthly newsletter. He has also been a reporter for the Hungarian daily Uj Kelet.
