BiographyHistory

The publishing firm John Kenedy, established in Baltimore in 1826, relocated to New York in 1838. From that time it specialised in Catholic and Irish publications. In 1913 it published the Selected Poems of John Boyle O'Reilly, Fenian and sometime transportee to Western Australia.

Descendants of John Kenedy, including his son Patrick John, grandsons Arthur and Louis, and great grandson Arthur Reid, were involved in the management of the firm until its demise in the 1980s. The business has been a subsidiary of The Macmillan Company of New York from 1969.
