BiographyHistory

'Random House of Canada was established in 1944 as the Canadian distributor of Random House Books. In 1986 the company established its own indigenous Canadian publishing program that has become one of the most successful in Canadian history.

As a separate company, Doubleday Canada has been one of Canada's most prominent publishers for over forty years and Bantam Books Canada had long served as the Canadian distribution arm of Bantam Doubleday Dell (BDD).

Following the international merger of Random House and BDD in 1998, the two companies officially became one in Canada in 1999, representing sister companies' titles in this country and maintaining thriving Canadian publishing programs.' http://www.randomhouse.ca/ (Sighted 6/12/04)
