BiographyHistory

Ronald Syme moved to New Zealand as a teenager and later settled in the Cook Islands. He was a seaman in the early 1930s; later a foreign correspondent for British papers; and during the Second World War he worked with British army intelligence.

Syme was well known as a prolific author of adventure stories for children and almost certainly spent some time in Australia. Syme also wrote travel books on the Cook Islands and New Zealand. Only his books with an Australian connection are listed in AustLit.
