BiographyHistory

One of the oldest continually operating children’s book publishers in the United States, Dutton Books was founded in Boston in the 1850s, when Edward Payson Dutton opened a bookshop, and shortly began publishing original books for young readers.

The publisher became a boutique primary-school and young-adult publisher in 2011.

As of 2015, it is an imprint of Penguin Books.
