BiographyHistory

John Quinn was born in Toronto, Canada, and brought to Australia with his siblings after the death of his mother. His family led an itinerant life. Before World War II he worked as a farmhand, then served with the AIF in the Middle East and New Guinea, and became a war correspondent. Later, he worked as a journalist for newspapers in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

John Quinn published one volume of poetry, Battle Stations. Much of his work is marked by great emotional intensity.
