1 2 y separately published work icon David Williamson Robin Hughes (interviewer), ( dir. Rod Freedman ) 2008 Z1526198 2008 single work interview

'David Williamson, Australia's best-known and most widely performed playwright reflects on his life and career. David's first full-length play The Coming of Stork was presented at La Mama Theatre in 1970 and was followed quickly by The Removalists and Don's Party in 1971. Although he was the dux of his school, he was teased because of his height ("at least a foot taller than everyone else") and called names, such as Loft, and "How's the weather up there". These names and incidents were reflected in many of his productions. As a screenwriter, David has brought his own plays, such as The Stork, to the screen. He has also written original screenplays for the feature films such as Gallipoli and The Year of Living Dangerously. On a personal note, David admits that when his first wife was pregnant with their second child, he started an illicit affair with his current wife Kristin.'
