Kandy Shepherd was born in Sri Lanka to two ex-patriate parents: an Australian mother and an English father. Her father worked for an American oil company. She moved between Sri Lanka, India, England, and Ireland, before settling in Sydney.
Before beginning to publish romance novels, she worked in the magazine industry: she worked as editor-in-chief of several mass-market magazines in both England and Australia.
Her first romance novel, Love is a Four-Legged Word, was published in 2009. She has subsequently published many more, largely (but not exclusively) category romances for Harlequin and Mills and Boon. Her more recent novels include the Sydney Brides series.
In 2016, Kandy Shepherd was based in the Blue Mountains.
