BiographyHistory

Professor Kerry Mallan is Director of the Children and Youth Research Centre at the Queensland University of Technology. Since 2005, she has been an adjunct professor in the Chinese Literature and Language Research Centre at Beijing Normal University.

Her many journal articles and book chapters on aspects of children's and young adult literature and film have appeared in Australian and international publications.

Her awards include the following:

  • International Research Society in Children's Literature Honor Book Award for Youth Cultures: Texts, Images, and Identities (2003).
  • The Children's Book Council of Australia Dame Annabelle Rankin Award, 'for distinguished services to children's literature in Queensland' (2006).

Professor Mallan has also published widely on children's literature published in countries other than Australia; these works are not individually indexed on AustLit.
