BiographyHistory

'Professor Clunies Ross teaches in the areas of Old English language and literature; early Middle English language and literature; Old Icelandic language and literature; Australian Aboriginal Songs; and oral literature and its transmission. The topics of her research are Norse skaldic poetry and the poetry of the Elder Edda; Norse myth; the Edda of Snorri Sturluson and the four grammatical treatises; the influence of Norse Poetry on post-medieval literature; and Arnhem land clan songs and the relationships between words, music and dance and their performance contexts including the socio-cultural dimension.'
