BiographyHistory

The Australian Catholic Truth Society (A.C.T.S.) started in 1904 with one of its co-founders being Edward J. Kelly, (q.v.). A.C.T.S. had its headquarters in Melbourne, and 'was active in the dissemination of sound Catholic literature and in the spreading of publications that are an antidote to works subversive of faith and morals'. It ceased operation in 1986.

Most A.C.T.S. publications were about faith and morals and doctrine. Lives of the saints were published frequently and there were also a small number of fictional works, all with a moral message. A number of short moral tales for children was also published.

There were similar Catholic Truth Societies in England, Ireland and the US.
