BiographyHistory

The firm J. H. Sherring was an Adelaide printer notable for a number of titles on exploration in Central Australia and the Northern Territory. The owner, James House Sherring (1824-1878) arrived in Adelaide in 1850 and initially worked for the printer Thomas Strode, of Hindley Street. Sherring became the owner of Strode's business, and went into partnership in the late 1850s as Edlin Sherring and Webb, which became Sherring and Webb, then J. H. Sherring, which operated in Currie Street.

Principally a mercantile printer, J. H. Sherring also printed music, freemasonry material, and some poetry.
