BiographyHistory

Established in 1923, Paul Zsolnay Verlag enjoyed it highest period of success in the interwar period, publishing significant German and international authors.

Paul Zsolnay began publishing Nazi authors in 1934, but the Gestapo nevertheless shut the press in 1939. Zsolnay himself spent 1938 to 1946 in England.

The company was taken over by Karl H. Bischoff Verlag during World War II.
