David Armitage is an illustrator. With his wife, Ronda Armitage (a NZ-born writer) he creates picture books. While the Armitages do not work in Australia, and set many of their works overseas, two of their books have been Highly Commended in the Australian Children's Book Council Awards (see
The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch, 1977 and

Armitage studied illustration, commercial art and painting at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology between 1960 and 1965. He has worked as a scene painter for an Australian theatre company, an exhibitions officer at the Auckland City Art Gallery, New Zealand and art director for a magazine.
