A graduate of Adelaide University, Helen Mills holds degrees in Arts and Law. Her work background includes holding positions with the Commissioner for Equal Opportunity (South Australia), the New South Wales Anti-Discrimination Board and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
According to a contributor's note which appears in the co-authored The Pack of Women (1986), Mills 'researched and wrote the original text' for this publication.
