Mrs Pierce was at one stage a resident of Glengowrie, Glenelg. Her pseudonym, 'Josephine Knowles', was derived from the Christian names of her son, Noel Joseph Pierce (Murphy). She wrote partly in conjunction with her husband of Noel Pierce (q.v.).
