Librarian Ian Morrison has worked at the State Library of Victoria, and was, for a number of years, Curator of Special Collections, Baillieu Library, University of Melbourne. In the latter position, he produced The Baker of Maldon: A Baillieu Library Exhibition Commemorating the Centenary of the George McArthur Bequest, 1903: 22 September to 7 November 2003 (2003). He also co-curated exhibitions resulting in the catalogues Secret Passages: Moriarty in the Baillieu!!!!: An Exhibition of Student Work from the Faculty of Architecture, Building & Planning (2001), and Sensational Tales: Australian Popular Publishing 1890s-1990s (2000). In 2005 Morrison moved to a senior position at the State Library of Tasmania.
Morrison has published widely on aspects of Australian and New Zealand print culture and is joint compiler of Australian Almanacs: A Bibliography (2003). He has also published A New City: Photographs of Melbourne's Land Boom (Miegunyah Press, 2003).
