Notes

  • Although Brandon was born in and spent many years in Australia, his work (mostly detective stories) has been neglected in his home country with hardly any institutional holdings. Yet "Contemporary Authors" (vol. 112) comments that "his books...have been praised in recent years for their consistency of plot and depth of characterization."
  • Father of Gordon Brandon, also a writer of detective fiction.
  • Note: apart from the foreign language editions listed under individual titles above, there are others (unseen) in German and Norwegian where it has not been possible to determine the original English titles.
  • For a listing of Brandon's short stories in The Thriller and the Sexton Blake Library see British Juvenile Story Papers and Pocket Libraries Index.
  • Brandon's A.S.P. novels feature the character Arthur Stukely Pennington.
