BiographyHistory

Evelyn Bach was born in St. Pölten, Austria. She received a Teaching Diploma of Visual Arts from the then Tasmanian CAE and a Certificate in Horticulture from the Launceston College of TAFE. She has worked in various fields including teaching, tutoring, managing a market garden and remedial teaching. After graduating from the University of Tasmania, Bach travelled extensively throughout Australia and overseas. In 1994, she received a Bachelor of Arts (Literary Studies) with honours from Deakin University, and was awarded the 1993 Renée Erdos Prize for her honours thesis. Long active as a member of the Deakin Literary Society, Bach also became a member of the Living Poets Society, and has performed poetry in schools.

In 1999, Bach was awarded a Phd by Deakin University for her thesis titled Papers from Marrakech : A Post-Colonial Reading of Western Women's Travel Writing in North Africa and the Middle East.
