BiographyHistory

Olha Terlecka was born in the Western Ukraine where she completed high school. In 1944, she fled with her family to Austria and then Germany where she worked in a displaced persons' camp as a typist-clerk until 1949. After arriving in Bonegilla, Victoria, she was sent on work contract to Tasmania where she lived for four years before settling in Melbourne. Some of her poems set to music have been performed on stage and broadcast on Radio 3EA.
