BiographyHistory

Beatriz Copello, also a speaker of Italian, received a Bachelor of Arts degree, a Master of Arts degree from Macquarie University and a Graduate Diploma in Communication/Writing from the Sydney University of Technology. In 2003, Copello received her Doctorate of Creative Arts from the University of Wollongong.

While in Rosario, Argentina, she was a member of the management committee of the literary and art magazine, Runa. She left Argentina for political reasons. In Australia she has designed and conducted courses on writing for the Workers Education Association (WEA). She has produced and presented the radio program Puntos de Vista [Points of View] on Radio 2EA and she has read her work at a variety of public forums including El Encuentro y mi Esencia [The Meeting and my Essence], ARICANA, Argentina, 1970; Writers in the Park, Harold Park, Sydney, 1988; the Aerial Bookshop, 1989; The Edge Theatre, 1989 and Feminist Book Fortnight, Les Moore Centre, 1989. Copello is the author of numerous works of poetry and prose. Her play 'Malinche's Fire' was performed at Belvoir Theatre in 2001.
