Armonia Benedito was born in Valencia and also lived in Argentina and Brazil before migrating to Australia. In 1984 she joined a group of writers, the Society of Friends of Spanish Literature and Culture. Her writing has been reviewed in Vision and Poemario-Voces through the auspices of Club Espanol for the occasion of the Australian Bicentenary celebration. In 1985 and 1987 Benedito gained third and second prizes respectively in the Literature Competition of Club Espagnol in Sydney. In 1993 she appeared in the Australian film Strictly Ballroom.
