Dr Dirk Spennemann gained an MA from the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and a PhD from the ANU in Canberra.
He has worked as an archeologist and cultural historian with a specialisation in the preservation of the cultural heritage of Pacific island groups including the Marshall Islands, Palau, Guam and the Marianas. Since 1993 Spennemann has lectured on Cultural Heritage Management at Charles Sturt University.
He has published widely on the archeology and history of the Pacific area and Australia, as well as on the literary history of Albury, NSW.
