BiographyHistory

Dzidra Knochs studied Arts and Education at Flinders University and having some knowledge of Russian and Italian worked for many years as a journalist in the area of the Arts for the Melbourne newspaper Australijas Latvietis [Australian Latvian] as well as freelancing for overseas Latvian journals and newspapers. She has exhibited her visual artwork in all Australian capital cities and, in Canada, has organised many art exhibitions and was the organiser of the Forgotten Immigrants exhibitions in Adelaide in 1988. From 1978 she acted as publisher and Editor of an arts newsletter, Terpentèµs un Vèµs (Turpentine and Wine). She was a contributor to Sanctuary? Remembering Postwar Immigration (ed Panich, 1988). Her work has been read on Radio 5EBI FM in 1989 and 1990 and from 1975 she has read to many groups and in many public forums. In 1995 she was working at the University of the Third Age.
