Lech Mackiewicz graduated from the National Academy of Theatrical Arts in Krakow, Poland. He gained a Master of Arts in drama in 1983. Several of his short stories have appeared in the Polish News Weekly. In 1992 he was among the cast of the Twentieth Century Fox romantic adventure film Till There Was You. As part of the Federal Government's 'Celebrate Australia' promotion of 1993, The Playbox Theatre production of King Lear directed by Lech Mackiewicz was performed in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Tokyo and Seoul. He also appeared in the 1995 Griffin Theatre production Mr Melancholy. In 2002 he was among the cast of the Australian televison drama series Marking Time.
