BiographyHistory

Michele Giglio obtained a degree in political science from the University of Rome, a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Education degree from La Trobe University. In Australia, he found employment initially as a teacher and as a journalist with the Italo-Australian press. After gaining Australian tertiary qualifications, he entered the teaching profession on a permanent basis. He has co-edited an anthology of Italian Australian Writers and several Italian readers used in Australian schools. In 1976, he co-edited Le avventure di Pinocchio [The Adventure of Pinnocchio] by Carlo Collodi. He has been involved in producing and directing Italo-Australian plays and was a former director of the Italian Choral and Arts Society Drama Group. In 1982 he won the South Australian Premier's Award in the short story competition.
