John Bono was born in Australia of Italian parents. His work has been performed in Italian and English and he also speaks the Calabrian dialect. He gained a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University. As well as writing for the stage, he has acted, coordinated the Broccoli Theatre Group and has hosted a morning program on Radio 3AK. His work was read on Radio 3AK in 1990.
