Silvana Gardner, born in Zadar (then in Dalmatia), gained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Queensland in Fine Arts, History and English Literature and went on to work as a visual artist as well as to write. Her visual works are represented in major collections in America, Canada and Australia, including the Mitchell Foundation, the National Gallery of Victoria, Griffith University (Brisbane), the National Library of Canberra and the Queensland Art Gallery. She has been involved extensively with creative art and writing workshops in schools and with underprivileged youth, as well as with literary workshops, poetry readings and youth festivals. Some of her poems have been broadcast on Radio 4RPH, Radio ABC's Arts Illustrated and Breakfast Time programs and on Washington National Radio, USA. Her work has been translated into Serbo-Croatian also.
