BiographyHistory

Before coming to Australia, William P. Nash had worked for some time for the Ford Motor Company and Briggs Bodies at Dagenham, England. He and his family sailed from Southampton to Australia as assisted passengers (Commonwealth Nominees) aboard the Shaw Saville liner New Australia, initially staying in the Finsbury Hostel at Pennington, South Australia, after an overnight train trip from Melbourne, where they had disembarked. As well as the works listed, he wrote a number of non-fiction works, including Music in the Cabbage Garden: Pioneers of Music in Victoria (1984), Genevieve Ward: The Countess de Guerbel, Dame of the British Empire (1987), The Walsh(e) Family (1988), The Marshall-Hall Saga (1991), and Charles Elsasser: Elsasser's Demise - Melba's Rise (1993).
