Daughter of Kath and Bill Milledge of Brooklyn Park, Bev Bills was educated at Kidman Park Girls' Technical School, where she was a prefect and house captain, and was Dux of the school in Dressmaking (1964-68). She has an Advanced Art/Craft Certificate from the Marleston College of TAFE (1980), an Associate Diploma of Arts (Textiles), (SA CAE Underdale 1989) and a Bachelor of Visual Arts (University of SA, Underdale Campus 1994). In 1983 she established her own business, trading as B B Crafts. She has a number of tapestries and weavings on public display, including at the churches of St Richard of Chichester, Lockleys and St John Vianney, Burnside, and in the Sir Samuel Way Building Courtroom No 4, Adelaide. She has won awards for her craftwork and has held a number of exhibitions, including one in Himeji, Japan, in 1989. She runs workshops in a variety of different handcrafts in country and city locations both in SA and interstate.
Bev makes and binds her own books in limited editions on hand-made paper. About her work she says, "I explore and extend my skills in weaving, papermaking, printmaking, felting, overflowing their techniques from one to another or taking a theme through its different mediums. In doing this my writing plays its part as well. I write about the concepts within my work in verses and forming images to complement the written word." She was inspired to write by reading the poetry written by her grandmother's sister, Annie McDonald (At the Sign of the Southern Cross, c1908).
In 1999 she was Vice President/Treasurer of the Henley Scribblers. She is married to Don Bills and has 2 children.
