BiographyHistory

'Anne Abednego Gela was born on Thursday Island. Her mother is from St Pauls Village on Moa Island, her father is from Lina Village on Erub (Darnley) Island. Anne’s augadh or totem/kindred spirit is Thingri (Stingray). Working at the Dreamtime Cultural Centre in Rockhampton was a turning point for Anne. It was there that she began to express her culture freely and, soon after, began an Associate Diploma course at Cairns TAFE College for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art.'
