BiographyHistory

MacIntyre's chosen life story was that he was a child emigrant to Australia in 1948, spent his formative years in Australia, and then headed for England in the 1960s. However, after his death, a number of people (including a brother) cast doubt on this story. (Details, including the disturbing details of MacIntyre's death, can be read in an editorial to Fantasy & Science Fiction here: https://www.sfsite.com/fsf/2011/gvg1105.htm)

Some of MacIntyre's work, most notably 'Martian Walkabout', 'Sundowner Sheila', and 'Death in the Dawntime', has Australian content. Only these works are individually indexed on AustLit.

Notes

  • MacIntyre wrote three original science fiction novels for Badger Books of London in the 1960s and for the same publisher he either rewrote or completed the unfinished manuscripts of another eight, all started by other authors. However, as each was published under a pseudonym used at the publisher's discretion, it is not now known which are the work of MacIntyre.
