BiographyHistory

Dr Deborah Buller-Murphy was the daughter of Grace Bussell and Frederick Slade Drake-Brockman. She married Winthrop Hackett in 1905, Frank Moulden (Mayor of Adelaide) in 1918 and Dr Basil Buller-Murphy in 1936. She became one of Australia's wealthiest women and was the chairperson of numerous mining and pastoral businesses. She was also a supporter many charities. In 1932, she received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Western Australia. Her papers, including those relating to her research of the Dordenup tribe's culture and language, are held by the JS Battye Library (MN269).
