James Murray grew up in Kew. He was well-known as a columnist, correspondent, reviewer and broadcaster. An Anglican priest, Murray's interest in writing ranged from art and artists to social history, travel and fiction, but his main focus was on people - their lives, loves and unpredictability. Murray wrote non-fiction books, including Sydney: An Illustrated History (1974).
