BiographyHistory

Peter Witcombe attended eight schools and a college and worked briefly in a shipping office before enlisting in the RAAF. Witcombe began writing poetry in Adelaide where he was influenced by the poets Ian Mudie, John Bray and Colin Thiele (qq.v.), with whom he was closely associated. In Sydney, where he had studied journalism, he was helped by Les Murray (q.v.).
